Something New In The Sky: Frontier A318

Frontier Airlines Adds World's First Airbus A318 to its Fleet

Frontier Airlines Tuesday accepted delivery of its first Airbus A318. The airline has purchased the 114-seat jet from Airbus, and with today's announcement, Frontier's fleet of 37 aircraft consists of 16 Boeing 737-300s, one Boeing 737-200, 19 Airbus A319s, and one Airbus A318.

The new A318 is the first aircraft of its type in the world to be flown commercially, having made its debut at the Paris Airshow earlier this year, and will join the A319 in Frontier's fleet as the company continues to transition to an all-Airbus fleet. While it is approximately eight feet shorter than the A319, the 114-seat A318 will retain the 33-inch seat pitch of the larger 132-seat A319.

Each of Frontier's aircraft features a unique wildlife theme on its tail, depicting animals native to the continental United States. The airline's newest aircraft features a photo of a grizzly bear on each side of its tail and on its wingtips.
