FAA's COO Chew Out... But To Where?

Is Another FAA Employee Heading For An Airline Gig?

The FAA's Gerald E. Lavey, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Internal Communications, has confirmed that the FAA's COO, Russ Chew, is heading for the exit.

In a brief statement issued to the FAA employee site, the FAA reported that "At her weekly staff meeting on the morning of February 5, the Administrator announced with regret that Chief Operating Officer Russ Chew would be leaving at the end of February. She said “we were hoping to keep hold on him longer, but this was an opportunity he just couldn’t pass up.” Just what that opportunity will be is unclear at the moment because, as Chew himself said, he has a number of options under consideration and has not made a final decision. But, he said he will stay in aviation in some capacity. The Administrator will be sending a broadcast message to all employees later on Monday. Stay tuned."

No successor has yet been named but the guessing games are already well underway. ANN will keep you informed... especially as to where the highly regarded Chew may next hang his hat.
