Kansas University Announces Aerospace Engineering Degrees

Remote Learning Programs Available for Would-Be Engineers Breaking Into The Industry

Kansas University announced a new offering, a Master's of Science and Master's of Engineering in the field of Aerospace Engineering.

The University of Kansas cites increasingly rosy job prospects for those going into the field, with a growth rate of 6% per year for the next 5 to 10 years. The school describes itself as a "world-class community of students, educators, and researchers shaping the next generation of aerospace systems," perfectly situating them to offer an engineering program with "research skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving techniques". Once graduated, students will be capable of designing, producing, operating, and supporting both air and spacecraft, whether they aim for the Master of Engineering (M.E.) or Master of Science (M.S.) degree.

The University will offer the degrees in an online version too, making them available to "everyone with the ambition to succeed". The KU Aerospace Engineering major will "bring higher education within reach for people who may not have the time or ability to attend classes in person". The required online courses will be taught by the same faculty as the in-person ones, meeting the same educational standards, but offer the kind of flexibility that only on-demand remote learning can provide.

"Students who earn a master's degree online from KUAE will complete coursework, conduct research, and participate in industry collaboration to prepare them for successful careers. The award-winning faculty at KUAE help students build skill sets specific to their chosen subdisciplines, including aerodynamics; propulsion; guidance, navigation, and control; structures and materials; astronautics; system engineering; design; and unmanned aerial systems."

The University plans to use their "education innovation center", Jayhawk Global, to offer the online degree program to even more students around the world. That program hosts more than 80 different degrees and certificates for students abroad, opening up the breadth of Kansas University to the world.
