Lakotas Can Be Serviced In The Marshall Islands
The first offshore Full Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) site
for the U.S. Army's UH-72A Lakota Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) is
open for business, Sikorsky Aerospace Services announced Monday.
The site is centrally located on the Marshall Islands in the
Pacific Ocean.

Sikorsky Aerospace Services will maintain the four LUH aircraft
assigned to the U.S. Army's Space and Missile Defense Command
(SMDC) on the Kwajalein Atoll Range complex in the Marshall
Islands. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean - between
Hawaii and Australia - the Marshall Islands serve as an important
test site for the U.S. military.
"With decades of experience working with the U.S. Army, we are
proud to support the Army's LUH program in this strategic military
location. Sikorsky Aerospace Services is pleased to continue to
provide world class support for a program of vital importance to
the nation's defense and homeland security needs," said David
Adler, president of Sikorsky Aerospace Services.
To date, the combined LUH fleet has flown more than 30,000 hours
and Sikorsky Aerospace Services has maintained operational
availability of 92 percent at the Full CLS sites throughout the
U.S.
The Army CLS program is being subcontracted to Sikorsky
Aerospace Services by EADS North America, the prime contractor for
the LUH program. Helicopter Support, Inc., a Sikorsky Aerospace
Services company, will provide fleet support which includes
selected material provisioning, transportation, web-based
maintenance management (HELOTRAC RL) and web-based material
management. This support platform allows for timely logistics and
aircraft readiness management.
Sikorsky Aerospace Maintenance, a Sikorsky Aerospace Services
company, will provide on-site LUH/EC-145 trained and certified
A&P mechanics to execute Army Full CLS operations. Site
personnel are also trained in aircraft system and procedures
specific to the operating environment.
