FlightSafety Previews Upcoming Gulfstream G500 Training Program

Will Include The First Business Jet Simulator Equipped With A Crewview Glass Mirror Display

FlightSafety International announces that its upcoming Gulfstream G500 training program will include the first business jet simulator equipped with a CrewView collimated glass mirror display. The simulator is located at FlightSafety’s learning Center in Savannah, Georgia. It is being used by Gulfstream during design, development and certification of the aircraft. FlightSafety will provide training for the Gulfstream G500 as it enters service.

“FlightSafety’s CrewView collimated display system will provide Gulfstream G500 pilots with an enhanced training experience that contributes to the realism FlightSafety’s FS1000 simulators deliver,” said Daniel MacLellan, Senior Vice President Operations.

fety’s CrewView provides far superior distortion-free optical performance with greater clarity, sharpness, and brightness for unprecedented simulation training fidelity. The true collimated images presented are free of visible distortions and artifacts out to mirror edge. The glass technology provides a true spherical shape for exact geometry across the entire viewing area which eliminates the inherent distortion found in soft-film display systems. Its modular design produces the widest fields of view available. This improves situational awareness and cueing during critical maneuvers including visual and circling approaches, taxiing, and turns in flight. Peripheral cueing is also enhanced during maneuvers such as final approach.

The Gulfstream G500 simulator also features FlightSafety’s VITAL 1100 visual system. It significantly enhances training by providing highly detailed mission specific imagery with vastly improved scene content and exceptional environmental effects. This includes continuous time of day, night, dawn/dusk and a comprehensive set of physics-based weather features that gives crew members the necessary cues to train for virtually any altitude and position. Training benefits also include a whole-Earth environment and worldwide database that incorporates latest terrain information with geo-specific satellite images.

FlightSafety has been the official factory authorized training organization for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation for more than four decades. Training for the complete line of Gulfstream aircraft is delivered by FlightSafety’s highly experienced and qualified instructors using close to 30 full flight simulators as well as other advanced training devices and equipment. It is available at FlightSafety Learning Centers in Columbus, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; Hong Kong; Long Beach, California; Savannah, Georgia; Wilmington, Delaware; and at the London Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom.
