Wright Flyer To Soar Again

The Wright brothers' 1903 Flyer will be displayed at floor level at the National Air and Space Museum's flagship building in Washington only through Oct. 17. 

Visitors can view this rare intimate presentation of the world's first airplane in the special exhibition 'The Wright Brothers & The Invention of the Aerial Age,' which opened in October 2003 to commemorate the centennial of powered flight.

After the exhibition closes on Oct. 17, the airplane will be returned to its familiar position suspended as the centerpiece of the museum's Milestones of Flight gallery, which is also home to such icons as Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis and Chuck Yeager's Bell X-1.
