Giant-Scale RC Model Aircraft To Buzz Wittman Regional Airport

"Big Birds Over EAA" Debuts September 11th

Giant-scale radio controlled model aircraft will take to the skies normally occupied by their much-larger cousins during the inaugural "Big Birds Over EAA" on Saturday, September 11th, at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. The free event will be held from 0900 to 1600 between the Main Gate and AeroShell Square on the EAA AirVenture grounds. Additionally, admission to EAA AirVenture Museum will be free all day on Saturday, September 11th.

Spectators of all ages will enjoy seeing amazing giant-scale RC aircraft - some up to 15-feet long - modeled after all types of standard-size aircraft, including warbirds, aerobatic, jets, vintage, and sport aviation. More than 30 individual RC pilots will guide their aircraft through flying demonstrations, with many other models also scheduled to be on display.

"Visitors have the opportunity to get an 'up close' view and will be amazed at the intricate detail these models go into reflecting the full-sized aircraft they emulate," said Alan Westby, EAA AirVenture Museum director. "Some of the best radio control pilots in the Midwest will be on hand to demonstrate a variety of models ranging from highly detailed warbirds to Piper Cubs."
