Baggy Pants Bring No Charges Against College Football Player

California Officials Decline To File Charges After Player Was Removed From A Plane

Charges will not be filed against that college football player who was removed from a US Airways flight after boarding a plane in San Francisco wearing baggy pants.

US Airways officials say 20-year-old Deshon Marman was not removed from the plane, and eventually arrested, for wearing his pants so that his boxers were showing, but for failing to comply with the flight crew's request that he pull them up. The NAACP has accused the airline of discrimination over the June 15th incident.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the San Mateo County District Attorney said the police officers on the scene acted "appropriately and professionally" during their interaction with Marman, and that criminal charges are not warranted. But District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe also said that Marman could have ended the entire episode easily simply by pulling up his pants.

However, the story does not end there. Marman's attorney Joe O'Sullivan says that he plans to file a lawsuit against the airline, which he says has not apologized or rebated the price of the college football standout's ticket. He said he hope to make it a "more expensive flight for US Airways."

The airline, for its part, said while the situation was "unfortunate," they have no intention of apologizing for taking compliance with aircraft crew instructions seriously.
