AD: Textron Aviation Inc. Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-07-13

PRODUCT: Certain Textron Aviation Inc. Models 510, 680, and 680A airplanes equipped with certain part number brake assemblies.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report that brake pad wear indicator pins were set incorrectly, which could lead to brake pad wear beyond the acceptable limits without indication.

This AD requires inspection of the brake pad wear indicator pins and replacement of the brake assembly if any pin is set incorrectly.

DATES: This AD is effective May 15, 2018.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 668 airplanes of U.S. registry, The cost of compliance is estimated as follows:

  • Inspection of the brake assembly wear indicator pins for Models 680 and 680A: $85 per airplane for one hour labor.
  • Inspection of the brake assembly wear indicator pins for Model 510: $42.50 per airplane for 0.5 hours labor.
  • Replacement of the brake assembly for Models 680 and 680A: $106,844 per airplane for parts and labor.
  • Replacement of the brake assembly for Model 510: $11,083 per airplane for parts and labor.
