Curado Replaces Botelho At The Top Of Brazilian Planemaker

Aero-News learned Wednesday the board of directors at Brazilian planemaker Embraer has completed a planned succession process, naming Frederico Fleury Curado as Embraer’s new President and CEO. Current CEO Maurício Botelho will stay on as Chairman of Embraer’s Board of Directors.

The meeting of the Board of Directors was preceded by a General Shareholder’s Meeting and a Special Shareholder’s Meeting, with a quorum representing more than 75% of the total Company shares.

Curado's appointment wasn't the only personnel change for the board. At the same time, Mauro Kern Júnior took over the position of Executive Vice-President, Airline Market, replacing Curado. Antônio Júlio Franco and Flávio Rimoli were inducted as Executive Vice-President of Organizational Development and Executive Vice-President, Legal Counsel, respectively.

Finally, Edson Carlos Mallaco, Vice-President, Aviation Services, now reports directly to the President and CEO.

Frederico Fleury Curado, 45, was born in Rio de Janeiro and received his under-graduate degree in Mechanical-Aeronautical Engineering from Brazil’s Aeronautics Technological Institute. In addition, he has a post-graduate degree in Foreign Trade from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and an International Executive MBA from the University of São Paulo.
