NAFI's New/Renewed Master Instructors

The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) takes pride in announcing a significant aviation accomplishment on the part of these very special aviation educators. Recently, they were all designated Master Instructors by NAFI, their professional aviation organization.
To help put this achievement in its proper perspective, there are approximately 81,000 CFIs in the United States. Fewer than four hundred of them have earned the Master designation thus far. As a measure of the prestige conferred by this title, the last seven FAA National Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA recently approved the designation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.

Michael Alan "Mike" BERLIN, Master CFI; West Hartford  CT

Michael Berlin recently renewed his Master Instructor designation.  Mike is a flight instructor at Windham Airport (IJD) and Hartford-Brainard Airport (HFD).  He also serves in the Connecticut Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and is an Aviation Safety Counselor for the Windsor Locks FSDO.

Larry Bothe recently renewed his Master Instructor designation.  Larry is manager and chief flight instructor for Pardieck Aviation at Seymour's Freeman Municipal Airport (SER).  He is also a pilot examiner (DPE) and Aviation Safety Counselor for the Indianapolis FSDO.

Macarena Parra recently renewed her Master Ground Instructor designation.  Macarena serves as a logistics and test control officer with the California Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP).  She is also an independent ground instructor specializing in advanced and instrument training.

Richard Poch recently renewed his Master Instructor designation.  Rick is a flight instructor with TAS Flight School, a Cessna Pilot Center at West Chester's Brandywine Airport (N99).  He is a 30-year veteran of the USAF and served a stint as a space shuttle mission controller with NASA.

Dorothy Schick recently renewed her Master Instructor designation.  Dorothy is the owner, operator and chief flight instructor of Take Wing Flight School at Creswell's Hobbie Airport (77S).  She also serves as an Aviation Safety Counselor for the Portland FSDO.

Thomas Hendershot recently earned his Master Instructor designation.  Tom serves as director of the Frontier Airlines' aviation maintenance technician (AMT) program and is an independent CFI.  He was recently named the 2003 National AMT of the Year and represented the Denver FSDO as well as the FAA's Northwest Mountain Region.

Kevin Olson recently earned his Master Instructor designation.  Kevin is an independent CFI and ground instructor at Crystal Airport (MIC) in Minneapolis.  He is active in the FAA's WINGS program and serves on the board of directors for the Yankee Flying Club as well as the Honeywell Flying Club.
