Dreamliner Is The Focus Of Al Jazeera Documentary

Boeing Workers Reportedly Recorded Without Their Knowledge Or Consent

A documentary produced by Al Jazeera English may cause some waves in the Boeing community, and the larger aviation industry, for its assessment of the development of the Dreamliner.

The report: "Broken Dreams, The Boeing 787", reportedly features comments from Boeing workers who were recorded without their knowledge ... and they had some unflattering things to say about the airplane and its development.

The Seattle Times reports that the documentary rehashes many of the well-documented issues with the airplane's introduction: the delays, the battery problems, and labor troubles that many say eventually led to the opening of the company's South Carolina final assembly plant.

But the documentary also features secret recordings of Boeing workers in North Charleston ... their faces obscured and voices altered ... who had some disparaging things to say about the company and the airplane.

The head of Boeing's 787 program, Larry Loftis, reportedly makes a brief appearance on the documentary before the conversation is ended by a public relations manager. In his brief appearance, Loftis says he has "the highest degree of confidence" in the plane and the company that produced it.

The documentary is set to debut on Al Jazeera English Wednesday, though the cable channel has very limited distribution in the U.S. If you care to watch the program and form your own opinion, we have provided a link below.
