AMA’S Drone Competition Promotes STEM Education

Middle And High School Students Compete In The UAS4STEM Program’s National Competition By Building And Flying Drones

On Saturday, August 20, middle and high school students from across the U.S. will compete in the UAS4STEM program’s national competition at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana.

The student teams have built their own drones and will compete in various flying challenges for the national title, which are designed to teach STEM skills.
 
Eleven teams qualified for the national competition after winning their regional competitions earlier this summer. The teams include:

  • Torch (Great Mills, Maryland)
  • St Marys CAP-089 (Great Mills, Maryland)
  • Creekview High School  (Canton, Georgia)
  • PTC Droners (Peachtree, Georgia)
  • San Benancio Quad Squad (Salinas, California)
  • Raisbeck Aviation High School (Tukwila, Washington)
  • The A Team (Decatur, Tennessee)
  • Clover HS Soaring Eagles Drone Club (Clover, South Carolina)
  • All Things Aviation (Osceola, Indiana)
  • TAFSS UAS Group (Dayton, Ohio)
  • Quad Squad (Shoreview, Minnesota)

UAS4STEM is organized by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), which is the largest association of model aircraft and drone hobbyists with over 190,000 members across the country.
