IndUS Aviation Celebrates Two Noteworthy Events

First Flight For Indian-Built Aircraft, Flight School Order

Aero-News has learned Indus Aviation Products Private Limited (IAPPL) -- the wholly-owned Indian subsidiary of Indus Aviation Inc, USA -- has successfully test flown the first Thorp T-211 aircraft assembled in India.

The aircraft, tail number VT-IAA, is the first ever aircraft produced in India through the joint-venture of aviation manufacturing companies.

IndUS Aviation, Inc., of Dallas, TX has collaborated over the past three years with Taneja Aerospace and Aviation, Limited (TAAL) to produce the first Thorp T-211 aircraft built in India, and to be certified by the Indian aviation authority DGCA. It is the same airplane IndUS builds in the United States under the Light Sport Aircraft category (the company also offers the airplane as a kit.)

The first aircraft was scheduled to be delivered in third week of February, followed by the second aircraft in the first week of March.

IAPPL also celebrated an order for the first 10 aircraft from India's Carver Aviation Academy for its flight training purposes. Due to high demand for flight training aircraft in India, IAPPL is expecting to sell at least 20 aircraft by the end of 2006, and another 50 by the end of 2007.

The Thorp T-211 is an all-metal, low wing, single engine, fixed landing gear, aircraft approved by both FAA and DGCA for flight training and pleasure flying.
