Two Dead In Louisiana Mid-Air

Two Cessna 150's Collided During Annual Fall Fly-In

Two people were killed and two others seriously injured Saturday afternoon when the aircraft they were flying were involved in a mid-air collision near the Pineville, Louisiana Regional Airport. The accident took place during the annual Pineville Fall Fly-In.

According to multiple media sources including the Associated Press, witnesses said the aircraft, both Cessna 150's, were flying over Lake Buhlow, where powerboat races were scheduled on Saturday. The witnesses said the airplanes touched wings and then fell into the woods about a mile from the airport.

Authorities have identified the people killed as Thomas O'Leary Jr. of Pineville and James Schultz Jr. of Alexandria, LA. They were both on board one of the aircraft. The occupants of the other plane, Ingrid, and Darrell Newell, were transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate to severe injuries, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.
