Aero-TV At Oshkosh 2009 Redux: Looking Back at Day Five

Welcome to Aero-TV’s Daily Update from EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh for Friday, July 31st, 2009

Editorial Note: The final part, Part Five, of ANN's Annual "Best of Show! The Very Best (And Worst) of Oshkosh 2009!" listings will appear Monday.

Friday marked the second annual “WomenVenture” celebration at EAA AirVenture. An estimated 550 women gathered at AeroShell Square wearing lavender t-shirts to show support including Julie Clark, Jill Long, and the famed WASPs.

Peggy Chabrian, president of Women in Aviation, took a moment to discuss WomenVenture with Aero-TV.

It was quite a year of updates from the EAA AirVenture’s company visitors, and ICON was not one to disappoint. On Friday, ICON took over the waters at the Seaplane Base in order to show off their highly popular amphibious A-5.  This was the first opportunity for Aero-TV and AirVenture guests to view the A-5 in action!

Friday featured a lot of exciting moments for AirVenture visitors and Aero-TV alike. John Klatt, of the John Klatt Air Shows, took Senior Producer Sarah Curtiss for an exciting aerobatic plane ride, showing off some of his great moves that thrill and awe the Oshkosh crowds.

TLC’s American Chopper star Paul Teutul delighted EAA AirVenture crowds as he made a guest appearance at the event in order to battle Fagen Incorporated’s MX-2. The aircraft, piloted by Greg Poe of Greg Poe Airshows, raced Teutul’s bike in a showdown between the two ethanol-powered vehicles. Greg Poe sat down with Aero-TV to give his perspective of the impending race.
