Aero-Linx!
Scouring the information super airways can sometimes be a tough,
if educational, task for the Aero-News staff... but it also allows
us to check out some truly neat and exciting sites, so it's not
that bad a gig. On any given day, we may check dozens (and often
hundreds) of different sources for story ideas, and facts
confirmation. And, as is the nature of our business, much of this
is done on the Internet.
The ANN gang decided we probably shouldn't keep some of the neat
sites, info resources, and organizations we've discovered to
ourselves... so we decided to bring you Aero-Linx. These are the
sites that WE check out -- when we need added perspective, a new
spin on a day's topic... or just want to escape into
cyber-aero-space for awhile.
Look for some of our favorite sites, coming each day to ANN via
Aero-Linx.
Suggestions for future Aero-Linx segments are always
welcome, as well.
Aero-Linx: 7th Bomb Wing B-36 Association
The 7th Bomb Wing B-36 Association was formed in September 1981
when 20 ex-B-36ers from the 7th Bomb Wing initiated plans for a
reunion of their former comrades. Those who had the
privilege to serve as flight crewmembers and in support of B-36
bomber aircraft operation will never forget the tremendous feeling
experienced taking one of those huge airplanes into the air. Those
on the ground were awed by the size of the huge aircraft and the
awesome power it represented. Both flight and ground crews
experienced a great sense of accomplishment once the mission was
complete. The camaraderie and closeness that developed, first
within the crews and second within the squadron, was something a
fighter aircraft organization will never feel. These histories have
been developed to preserve the dynamic history of the B-36
"Peacemaker" at Carswell Air Force Base and all the people who made
it possible.
