AD: The Boeing Company Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-06-13

PRODUCT: All The Boeing Company Model 787 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by reports of hydraulic leakage caused by damage to aileron and elevator actuators from lightning strikes.

This AD requires an inspection or records check to inspect for certain parts, detailed inspections of aileron and elevator power control units (PCUs), and applicable on-condition actions.

DATES: This AD is effective June 3, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates  that this AD affects 82 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Inspections: Up to 20 work-hours × $85 per hour = $1,700 per aircraft per inspection cycle.
  • On-Condition Costs: 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85.

The FAA says it has received no definitive data that would enable the agency to provide cost estimates for the records check or certain on-condition actions specified in this AD.
