Fabio Gamba To Take Over As CEO Of EBAA

Brian Humphries Remains President

EBAA on Monday announced the appointment of Fabio Gamba as CEO of the Association, effective 1 September. He will take over from Brian Humphries who will remain in the role of EBAA President. In his full-time position as CEO, Gamba will run the EBAA business from the Association’s Brussels headquarters. He will also take on the significant role of actively liaising with EBAA members.

Fabio Gamba

Gamba was most recently the Deputy Secretary General of the Association of European Airlines (AEA). Appointed in 2006, he primarily focused on promoting the interests of legacy carriers and established strong ties with the European Institutions and EU Member States.

Gamba began his professional career at the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO). He then joined the Boeing Company, where he assumed different positions before becoming Deputy Director, Business Development and Strategy Europe.

“In order to realize its truly amazing potential and deploy its full benefits to the economy, business aviation needs fair and equitable rules that recognize its specificities," Gamba said. "Having spent the last five years fighting the airline corner, I now look forward to using that expertise to help business aviation grow and develop its vital role in Europe.”

Brian Humphries

Brian Humphries joined EBAA as Chairman in 1996, holding this post until 2004, while simultaneously fulfilling his role first as Managing Director of Shell Aircraft and subsequently CEO of Shell Aircraft International. Following his retirement from Shell in 2005 he became CEO of EBAA, and in 2009 assumed the dual role of President and CEO. In his continuing capacity as EBAA President, Humphries will play an active strategic part in support of the Board of Governors.

“We are delighted to welcome Fabio to EBAA as our new CEO,” says Humphries. “As EBAA’s roles, responsibilities and activities grow in line with our rapidly expanding membership, and the fast changing European infrastructure, Fabio brings just the right blend of energy, skills and knowledge that we need to sustain our success. Indeed, his extensive experience in the airline sector will be a particular asset in continuing to convince European leaders of the vital role of our sector in the European economy.”
