Aero-TV At XPO21: AUVSI President Speaks On The Unmanned Future, Part 2

Brian Wynne Speaks With Pride About The Community and What The Future Holds

Brian Wynne President & CEO, AUVSI, speaks with ANN about the disruptions caused by the pandemic this year and how he intends to use the momentum generated to propel the industry forward.

“I think we’ve got great momentum, and I’m urging us to take advantage of that momentum,” Wynne says. “There are big opportunities that are going on, we have got a very robust discussion going on with the US Navy. The Navy is looking at how unmanned or optionally manned, or uncrewed/optionally crewed, vehicles can be used in their strategy in the future,” Wynne continued.

Contracts with government organizations, along with states and municipalities embracing automated vehicles seem to be an emerging trend after people realized the value of these services after having to keep socially distant.

“There is no rest for the weary,” he said. “We are going to keep moving forward.”

The unmanned revolution is here and ANN's Jim Campbell asked Wynne if he felt that the current political administration ready for that environment?

“The answer about the administration is yes,” Wynne responded. “We’ve already had very good discussions with people all the way up the food chain. I am on the management advisory council for the administrator and it was very valuable to have him on the show floor yesterday,” he said.

“There’s no question that this administration is going to be forward leaning on these things. We have several people from the White House here, we think that's going to be a very robust discussion from the Office of Science and Technology Policy. I am very optimistic about this administration,” Wynne continued.

Wynne finished up by looking forward to the future, passing on words of inspiration to the community.

“You keep moving forward, that’s what this community is,” he concludes. “I am super proud. We have continued to move forward, we have continued to focus on making a difference for society, and that's what matters. When it’s all said and done, none of this moves forward without public acceptance, and we demonstrated to the public many many times that we could deliver things to people who needed them in remote places, and do that in a way that is safe. I am super proud to be associated with it.”
