Nashville, TN Airport Authority Announces Board Changes

Two New Members Join Board, Two Reappointed To Positions

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) announces the appointments and confirmations of Aubrey B. Harwell III and Nicole Maynard as new members of its Board of Commissioners, as well as the reappointments of Commissioners Rod Essig and Bobby Joslin. Maynard is the fourth woman, including Chair Juli Mosley, the first woman chair of the board, to serve currently on the MNAA Board.

“We are pleased to welcome Trey Harwell and Nicole Maynard, who bring extensive legal and business acumen and diverse backgrounds to the Airport Authority’s Board of Commissioners to help fulfill our mission,” stated Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the MNAA. “Rod Essig and Bobby Joslin will continue to share their business expertise and make important contributions.”

Aubrey B. (Trey) Harwell III Harwell was appointed to the board by Mayor Karl Dean and confirmed on May 21 by the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. Harwell serves the board’s legal representative. Harwell joined Neal & Harwell in 1996. His principal areas of practice are civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense. Harwell is a member of his firm’s Crisis Management Team and has also conducted numerous independent investigations on behalf of individual and corporate clients throughout the United States.

From 1995 to 1996, Harwell served as a law clerk for The Honorable Thomas A. Wiseman, Jr., Judge, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He has been very involved in numerous professional organizations, including the Nashville Bar Association, serving as president in 2009. Harwell graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University in 1992 with a major in English and minor in psychology and received his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law.

Nicole Maynard (Pictured, right)
Nicole Maynard was appointed to the board by Mayor Dean and confirmed on June 18 by the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. Maynard serves as one of the board’s business and finance representatives. Maynard is state head of Tennessee and president of the Middle Market banking group serving clients in the state of Tennessee. She has more than 15 years of banking experience, all of it with Chase and its predecessor organizations. Maynard was formerly a senior vice president in the J.P. Morgan Financial Institutions Group before accepting the position to lead the Tennessee market expansion in July of 2011.

Maynard has been active in community leadership. She serves as a board member for the International Business Council of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and for Conexion Americas, a local non-profit working to integrate Latino families into the Middle Tennessee communities. She is also an active member of the Downtown Nashville Rotary Club, a member of the General Committee for the Swan Ball and the Friends of the Nashville Ballet. Maynard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade and Finance from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, as well as a Master of International Management degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, AZ.

Rod Essig was reappointed to the board by Mayor Dean and confirmed by the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County on May 7. First appointed in 2008, Essig serves as one of the board’s business and finance representatives. Essig is with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a full-service talent agency representing the most creative and successful professionals working in film, television, music, theatre, video games and sports. His extensive background in the music industry began in 1973 as vice president and co-owner of Minneapolis-based booking agency, Variety Artists International.

In 1993, he relocated to Nashville and joined CAA. Essig is presently the responsible agent for some of the biggest names in country music including Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes and Phil Vassar. He has many affiliations on boards in the community and serves as president of the Academy of Country Music and serves on the boards of Belmont University, NARAS/Nashville and the Tennessee Film Commission. He is also a 1997 graduate of Leadership Music.

Bobby Joslin (Pictured, right)
Bobby Joslin was reappointed to the board by Mayor Dean and confirmed by the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County on May 7. Joslin was first appointed by in 2009. Joslin, who owns Joslin and Son Signs, serves as the board’s pilot representative. He serves on the State Leadership Council of the National Federation of Independent Business and on the board of the Nashville Business Coalition. Joslin is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Nashville State Technical Community College Business Management Committee, Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. Joslin attended Middle Tennessee State University and George Peabody College.
