Raven UAV Flies Away From Pilots In Central Florida

Missing: One USAF Spy Drone

The US Air Force is searching for a wayward unmanned aerial vehicle it launched this week near the central Florida city of Ocala.

WKMG-6 in Orlando reports the USAF was conducting training exercises Tuesday afternoon. They launched the aircraft from a field at about 1600 EDT... and watched as the aircraft defied commands, and instead turned east and flew onward to its own devices, at a speed of about 60 mph.

Authorities say the AeroVironment RQ-11B Raven (type shown above) may have landed in the Ocala National Forest.

Anyone who comes across the plane -- which sports a six-foot wingspan -- is asked to contact the Ocala Police Department.

Hmm... we're guessing a child somewhere has stumbled upon a REALLY cool model airplane...
