Hold It! Blocked Lavs On BA Flight Cause Passenger Discomfort

Passengers On A Flight To Grand Cayman Were Asked To Stop Drinking ... Anything

169 passengers on a British Airways flight from London to Grand Cayman Island via Nassau in the Bahamas were asked to stop consuming liquids for more than two hours because every lavatory on the Boeing 767 became unusable.

That includes the one in the Club World cabin.

The London Daily Mail reports that all but two of the six toilets aboard the plane were blocked for most of the flight, and those remaining two became unusable when the planes waste tanks became full. Apparently, the tanks were not emptied at Heathrow as they should have been, and the plane took off for the 12 hour flight with mostly full waste tanks. The pilot asked passengers and crew to stop consuming liquid about 2-and-a-half hours from Nassau, hoping they could last until the plane landed.

The tanks were emptied in Nassau, and the plane continued on its way to Grand Cayman Island with comfortable passengers. BA apologized for the incident. A spokesman said the plane would not have departed Heathrow if they had known of the "situation."
