Limited Service Resumes At Florida International Airports

Hurricane Irma Forced Closure Of Airports Across The State

International Airport in Florida are slowly resuming service following closures due to Hurricane Irma, which brought devastating winds and flooding to much of the state.

Buying Business Travel reports that the airports remained closed Monday as damage was assessed. The storm hit the state and traveled up the west coast on Sunday and through Monday.

Airports in Miami, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando all reported that they would reopen Tuesday on a "limited basis" and gradually increasing their schedules over the course of this week.

All airports were advising passengers that they should check with their individual carriers concerning the status of their flights.

Several airlines also said they planned to resume at least partial service to the state on Tuesday.

There is no information about the resumption of flights to or from Key West International Airport as of Tuesday. The island chain was hit hard by Irma, and many services, including electricity, water and cellphone service are still unavailable on the islands.

Jacksonville International Airport reported on its Facebook page on Tuesday that the airport was open and fully operational, but advised passengers to continue to check with their airlines for most updated flight status as they work up to their normal schedules.
