NTSB Investigating Helicopter Accident In Washington State

Pilot Of The Aircraft Is Reportedly Refusing To Talk With Authorities

An accident in Asotin County, WA left a helicopter at the bottom of the Snake River last Saturday. And while both occupants of the aircraft were able to escape the aircraft, they left the scene without talking to authorities. And the pilot of the aircraft is being described as uncooperative in his dealings with police and the NTSB.

Television station KLEW reports that the two on board were pilot Alex Jobe of Sammamish, WA and Lewis Weiss of Duval, WA. When Jobe was pulled over by police on Monday, he reportedly told them he was unhurt, but would not discuss the accident further.

Since no charges have been filed, neither person is obligated to talk to police, according to the report. Authorities said Jobe told them to contact his lawyer if they had further questions.

The accident may have been caused by a mechanical issue with the aircraft, which according to FAA records was a Hughes 369D, but that has not been confirmed. The aircraft is registered to Jeff Jobe, who lives in Redmond, WA.

A person named Alex Jobe was contacted by the station on Tuesday, but the person answering the phone said only "no comment" and hung up.
