EAA’s Young Eagles Program Is 30 Years Old!

EAA To Celebrate 30 Year Anniversary Of Young Eagles Program At AirVenture

At the upcoming EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022, the 30th anniversary of the Young Eagles program will be commemorated and recognized during flights, forums, and other activities during the week.  This year's EAA AirVenture runs from 25th- 31st July at the Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Wisconsin.

The Young Eagles is the largest youth program ever created, where over 50,000 EAA-member pilots, including the author, have flown nearly 2.3 million young people, several thousand of whom have gone on to pursue their dreams in aviation and similarly returned the favor by giving back to others.  David Leiting, the Eagles Program Manager added that “at OshKosh this year, we want to recognize those volunteers, build on the program’s success, encourage new pilots to get involved", and in particular, "the lives that the Young Eagles program has influenced.”

During the week of AirVenture, the goal is to fly at least 30 Young Eagles, with additional flights occurring in the EAA’s Powered Parachute in the Fun Fly Zone, prop cards will be available for airplanes on site that have previously participated in Young Eagles flights.  On 28th July, volunteers will give flights in the Ford Tri-Motor and Bell-47 helicopter to Young Eagles chosen by their local chapters, at 1:30pm group photo at Boeing Plaza for previous Young Eagle passengers, pilots, and volunteers.  Additional commemorative activities will be announced once confirmed.
