Balloon Causes To-Do At Melbourne College

No One Injured In Emergency Landing

There was a bit of a to-do on the grounds of a college in Melbourne, Australia on Friday... when a hot-air balloon was forced to make an emergency landing on the grounds of the Victorian College of the Arts.

News.com reports none of the five people onboard the balloon were injured in the landing, which occurred about a half hour after the balloonists departed a local park.

"It started at Fawkner Park this morning and you really don't know where you are going, it all depends on the weather," said passenger Lyn Delahunty to ABC Radio.

Despite the unusual circumstances, Delahunty said the pilot remained calm throughout the ordeal... thus reassuring the passengers.

"He didn't tell us anything and we didn't realize we were going to land there," she said. "I did not feel anxious at any stage whatsoever. I really didn't know anything was amiss and (was) really surprised to see cameras and everybody here."

The unnamed pilot hovered the partially-inflated balloon above the college for several minutes, to find a suitable place to land... before setting the balloon down in an empty grass lot... that Delahunty said wasn't quite empty enough.

"We landed on a little bit of an arty pyramid..." she said. "[T]here was just a little bit of a bump."
