SocialFlight Partners With Seaplane Pilots Association

Utilizing Social Media To Promote Water Flying

Where2 Interactive has formed a partnership with Seaplane Pilots Association to promote water flying and host the Seaplane Pilots Association’s on-line event calendar; further establishing SocialFlight as the industry-wide calendar for General Aviation.  In keeping with the grass-roots spirit of both organizations, the agreement between both companies was signed at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, FL.

The Seaplane Pilots Association is a membership based non-profit organization focused on promoting water flying, proficiency, safety and protecting the rights of seaplane pilots worldwide. The partnership includes a featured presence for the organization within SocialFlight as well as the integration of a customized version of the SocialFlight web tool, embedded within Seaplane Pilots Association’s web site.  This new utility simplifies the entry, communication and management of over 100 Seaplane Pilots Association “Splash-in’s”, meetings, seminars and other events worldwide, all from within the Seaplane Pilots Association’s web portal.

The partnership coincides with SocialFlight’s recognition as one of the Top Five Aviation Apps, determined by a recent AOPA poll.  SocialFlight is a FREE mobile app and web suite which maps all of the General Aviation events important to pilots such as Aircraft Fly-in's, Air Shows, Pancake Breakfasts, Conventions, FAA Safety Seminars and much more.  SocialFlight mapped over 5,000 events in 2013 and close to 2,000 events have already been catalogued for 2014!  In addition, SocialFlight provides users with a personalized Weekly Event Planner, reaching out to them each week via email, informing them about the upcoming events in their local area and motivating them to get out and fly!

"Water flying is one of the most exciting and magical experiences aviation has to offer.  It presents a unique opportunity for pilots to expand their horizons and exposes aviation to the general public without the fences and restrictions of an airport environment,” Said Steve McCaughey, Executive Director of the Seaplane Pilots Association. “We have seen the impact SocialFlight is having on General Aviation and it was a natural fit to focus some of that energy on the seaplane community.  Not only will SocialFlight benefit for our members, but having over 100 Seaplane Pilots Association events listed in SocialFlight will expand our reach, exposing the benefits of Seaplane Pilots Association membership to the entire SocialFlight community.”

SocialFlight’s mission is to support and energize General Aviation by giving pilots places to go and more reasons to fly.  SocialFlight users can search for events, add events, chat, upload photos, get email notifications, send event notices to their friends and even add events automatically to their Google or Outlook calendar.
