Flightstore Documents The History Of Women In Aviation

New Infographic Marks Milestones

A new infographic detailing the exciting journey of women in aviation has been compiled by the U.K. pilot supply store Flightstore. The infographic has been placed on the Flightstore blog and is available for those looking to place this informative graphic on their own site or share socially. Flightstore wanted to show the influence of female pilots in the industry, from E Lillian Todd who became the first woman to help design and build and aircraft to Liu Yang, the first female astronaut sent by China into space.

Flightstore Director Andrew Holdsworth states, "We are delighted with the outcome of this infographic, charting these monumental moments in the history of aviation has been an eye opener and we are looking forward to adding more landmarks as the industry progresses."

With over 4,000 female pilots worldwide, there has been a notable increase in the amount of women choosing to enter the field. Even celebrities are getting in on the act with Loose Women presenter, Carol Vorderman, completing her first solo flight live on This Morning just a few weeks ago. The TV star is currently training for her private pilot's license and aiming to complete a solo flight around the world later this year, perhaps inspired by female pilots such as Therese Peltier, the first woman to fly an airplane solo or even Baroness Raymonde de Laroche, the first woman to obtain a pilot license.
