FTSI Forms Consulting Group To Handle Aviation Industry Growth

Jackson Group Consultants Announces JV With Bangkok Airways

Flight Training Services International (FTSI) announced recently the formation of a new consulting group, Jackson Group Consultants, LLC.

Jackson Group Consultants (JGC) was formed to address the overwhelming growth projections in the aviation industry. Representatives with FTSI tell Aero-News JGC focuses on performing comprehensive research and development, and providing solutions based on a thorough needs assessment.

With a global outlook, JGC will partner with industry leaders and visionaries who seek to achieve results in the industry.

“We are very excited about forming Jackson Group Consultants and being able to offer our experience in the aviation industry,” said Shawn Raker, President & CEO of Flight Training Services International. “We have handpicked a team that is skilled in analyzing the industry and providing solutions that enable our clients to excel in their business endeavors."

On April 17, JGC announced its first partnership -- a joint venture with Bangkok Airways, Thailand’s second biggest airline. The joint venture will produce a new flight school based on the Commercial Airline Pilot Training (CAPT) Program model and will be called Bangkok Flight Academy.

Bangkok Flight Academy will be located at the Sukhothai Airport in Sukhothai province, Thailand. Scheduled to open November 1, 2008, the 88,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art facility will hold up to 400 students. The first class is expected to have an enrollment of 20 students. The 12–14 month program will be based on the CAPT Program approach which includes an emphasis on crew concepts, journaling, pre and post flight briefings, the use of cockpit cameras, and scenario-based training. The program will use an advanced fleet of 25 single engine aircraft and 2 jet engine aircraft. Included in the program is an intense Aviation English course, preparing the future pilots to excel in an English-only flight environment.

"According to IATA, there is a potential need to train 17,000 pilots per year," said Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth, founder and CEO of Bangkok Airways. "Bangkok Flight Academy is prepared to provide solutions to this shortage and to train pilots to the highest levels of the flight training industry."

Headquartered in Duluth, GA, Jackson Group Consultants specializes in airport development and management, flight training, curriculum development, fleet selection and management, human resources, and other industry related functions.
