CASA Urgent AD: Cirrus

Subject: Cirrus Design SR20 and SR22 Series Airplanes
AD Number:
AD/CIRRUS/4 Crew Seats 12/2005 DM
Applicability: Model SR20 aircraft, serial numbers 1005 through 1455. Model SR22 aircraft, serial numbers 0002 through 1044.


Requirement: 1. For Model SR20 aircraft, serial numbers 1005 through 1423, and Model SR22 aircraft, serial numbers 0002 through 0972: Accomplish the requirements of Cirrus Design Corporation Alert Service Bulletin SB A2X-25-08, dated 22 June 2004.
2. For Model SR20 aircraft, serial numbers 1005 through 1455, and Model SR22 aircraft, serial numbers 0002 through 1044:
Accomplish the requirements of Cirrus Design Corporation Alert Service
Note: FAA AD 2005-17-19 Amdt 39-14240 refers.
Compliance: Within 50 hours time in service or 180 days after 13 October 2005, whichever occurs first; unless already accomplished.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 September 2005.

Background: The FAA received information from the manufacturer that the crew seats, under emergency landing dynamic loads, may fold forward at less than the 26g required by the regulations. The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent the crew seats from folding forward during emergency landing dynamic loads with consequent occupant injury.
