All Clear After Bomb Threat Leads To Aer Lingus Evacuation

A330 Departed From JFK

ANN REALTIME REPORTING 08.25.06 0930 EDT: Tense moments and a lot of inconvenience for passengers on Aer Lingus Flight 112 from New York to Dublin Friday, after a bomb threat was called in as the aircraft crossed over Atlantic Ocean.

The Airbus A330-200 made a scheduled stop at Shannon Airport in western Ireland, according to airport spokesman Eugene Pratt.

"It wasn't an emergency landing. It wasn't a red alert. The flight was coming here anyway," Pratt said

All 239 passengers onboard were evacuated, and all baggage was removed for rescreening, in response to the threat called in to a Dublin police station by a person purporting to be linked to al Qaeda.

A thorough search of the airliner revealed no hidden explosives. Passengers continuing on to Dublin were placed on another flight, Pratt said.
