Agency Representatives To Attend Redbird Migration Conference
John S. Duncan, the FAA's Director of Flight Standards Service and James Viola, Manager AFS-800 have agreed to attend the Migration Flight Training and Design Conference, (October 27th- 29th) at the Redbird Skyport, San Marcos Municipal Airport (KHYI) in San Marcos, TX, to discuss the status of the FAA’s controversial proposal to change the rules of simulator use and certification.
"We very much appreciate their participation. This is an important issue and, if enacted, potentially very damaging to the future viability of small and medium flight schools," said Jerry Gregoire (pictured), founder and owner of Redbird. "Bring your toughest questions for John and Jim. They can handle it."
Gregoire says that participants at the conference will have an opportunity to get some hands-on experience with some of the interesting ideas and technologies coming out of the lab this year. Those include:
- The connected airplane: Systems to automatically offload data from a training aircraft when it returns to base. Offloaded data can be automatically directed to aircraft logs, student tracking, and accounting and billing systems.
- Gaming based experiential learning systems: Delivering training content in more effective ways.
- Self-directed pre-flight: Student paced learning systems to reduce instructor workload.
- iOS and voice controlled training tools: Universal and Voice controlled instructor’s stations.
- All electric and diesel aircraft for flight training: The search for lower operating costs.
- National events marketing programs: Challenge cup’s impact on business development for flight schools.
"If you haven’t already registered, I’d like to invite you to join us for what promises to be a highly rewarding, educational, and enjoyable few days in the heart of Texas," Gregoire said.
