Regulators To Brief Industry On Key Charter Issues

Session To Be Held At 2008 NATA Air Charter Summit

The National Air Transportation Association tells ANN that FAA officials directly responsible for the oversight of Part 135 on-demand air charter operators will provide an in-depth review of upcoming regulatory changes during a special session at the 2008 NATA Air Charter Summit.

The FAA Regulatory Review will feature James Ballough, director of the FAA's Flight Standards Service, and Dennis Pratte, manager of the FAA's Part 135 Air Carrier Operations Branch.

"Recent interest in how the FAA oversees airlines has many wondering about the implications for Part 135 air carriers, making this briefing critical for all 135 operators," said NATA President James K. Coyne.

Lingering concerns over operational control, the increasingly complicated standards for using simulator training centers, Extended-Range Twin-Engine Operational Performance Standards, and the likelihood of mandatory Safety Management Systems, are just some of the critical topics that Ballough and Pratte are expected to explore.

The 2008 NATA Air Charter Summit will be held on June 9-11 in suburban Washington, DC at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles Hotel in Chantilly, VA.
