Rockwell Collins Recognizes 2011 Engineers Of The Year

Internal Awards Given For Work On Company Projects

Three employees who embody excellence in engineering have received the 2011 Rockwell Collins Engineer of the Year Award.

David Gribble, a principal systems engineer in Commercial Systems; Reed Moody, a principal systems engineer in Government Systems; and Tyler Wilson, a principal systems engineer in Engineering and Technology, received the 2011 Corporate Engineer of the Year awards.

An instrument-rated pilot, Gribble, of Cedar Rapids, was recognized for assisting with the design and development of the user interface for Rockwell Collins’s eyes-forward, touch-control Pro Line Fusion avionics for small to midsize business aircraft. He worked with customer pilots to refine the system for the way pilots prefer to fly.

Moody, of Hoytsville, Utah, was honored for devising and helping to execute a new approach for a major government customer’s small-platform flight simulation system. The result became our Panorama Glass Front Projection (GFP) display, which debuted at Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference 2011.

Wilson, of Springville, Iowa, was recognized for turning one meeting with a customer into recommendations for how to further develop the software architecture on a prototype that enhances battlefield communications. He then stepped up to a defining role in making the architectural changes. The results were a highly satisfied customer, improved capabilities and technologies that are capturing wider customer attention.

The Rockwell Collins Engineer of the Year award recognizes engineers who demonstrate outstanding technical creativity and innovation resulting in significant contributions to the company and their profession.
