Nude Man Shows Up At Airport Checkpoint

Search This!

Jeez, what does it take to get through airport security these days? First, they want you to take off your shoes. Then they want you to take off your belt. But when Kent Hoffman showed up at the security checkpoint leading to Louis Armstrong International Airport's passenger concourses Tuesday wearing nothing but a smile, he might have gone just a little too far.

The 34-year old man from Springfield (MO) was naked as a jaybird when he arrived at the Concourse C checkpoint, just before 5:00 am Tuesday morning.

"He was talking about how he came to save the world," said Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Andrea McCauley.

When TSA screeners didn't buy that bit of unsolicited advertising, Hoffman ran back into the terminal building, flap-flap-flapping in the breeze all the way. Eventually, he was cornered by security personnel near a coffee shop. TSA workers held a sign up in front of Hoffman's wienerschnitzle until Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies came to arrest him.

Hoffman was booked in at the Gretna (LA) County Jail, where he's being held on $5,000 bond.

Louis Armstrong Airport spokeswoman Michelle Duffourc said it was the first time in the airport's history that someone had, er, streaked inside the terminal. "We would prefer it if people keep their clothes on in the building."
