Orca Conservation Group Hopes To Raise Awareness With Seaplane

Raising Money For Special Livery, Other Materials

The conservation group Wild Orca hopes to have a seaplane painted in special livery in an effort to raise awareness about the status of endangered killer whales.

The group is raising money that will allow them to have a 1950's deHavilland Otter seaplane painted in black and white livery similar to the markings on the animals. Kenmore Air has agreed to work with the group, offering one of their aircraft for the effort.

On their website, Wild Orca says the aircraft will be seen by thousands of people on a daily basis, and it will help educate people about changes they can make to help protect the species.

The group hopes to raise $14,500 to cover the cost of the paint job, as well as the production of special education booklets. Kenmore Air has agreed to distribute the booklets on all of their aircraft, and will also make them available to the public at their passenger terminals.
