Aeronautics Launches Next Generation Mini UAS - Orbiter 2B

Claims Unique Data Communications & Mission Completion Capabilities For The Aircraft

UAS developer Aeronautics has introduced the newest member of its Orbiter UAS Family - Orbiter 2B - with capabilities in the areas of Data Communications and Mission Completion.

The company said in a news release that Orbiter 2B has a unique operational and mission execution capability, as well as an exceptional carrying capacity. These attributes enable, among other things, activation of the system in a moving vehicle, thus allowing continuous tracking of the moving target, frequency hopping to increase encryption, prevention of jamming, and remote control capabilities via an optical fiber that connects with the existing infrastructure.

In addition, Orbiter 2B has the capability of navigating independently, enabling completion of the mission even if the GPS is jammed or there is no communication. The automatic warning system, which sends alerts regarding any deviation from the mission definitions, gives the operator high-level monitoring and control capabilities that ensure mission success. The orbiter 2B digital data link is adjusted to support both C band and S band with a full duplex communication, allowing unique intelligence capabilities and high-level information processing.

Aeronautics says the compact and lightweight Orbiter 2 UAS system can fly for 4 hours to a distance of up to 50 miles. The system carries a multi-sensor camera with day-and-night channels and a laser pointer.  Easy to operate, it can be assembled in 10 minutes, is launched from a catapult, and lands using a parachute and an airbag. Operational even in the harshest weather conditions, it is gyro-stabilized with tri-sensor and zoom payload. Delivering advanced image processing, accurate navigation, and net landing capability for maritime operations, it is easily controlled from a personal GCS.

The Orbiter 3 Small Tactical UAS (STUAS) is a compact and lightweight system for military and homeland security missions, providing an operational range of up to 62 miles and up to 7 hours of endurance. Carrying a triple sensor payload with day-and-night, thermal image and laser pointer, the system has significant tactical UAS capabilities in a mini-aerial platform body. Assembled in 20 minutes, the fully-autonomous, vehicle-mounted system enables static and on-the-move operation. Providing a tri-sensor and stabilized EO/IR payload, it uses a catapult take-off and a parachute and airbag recovery, and is electrically powered for silent covert operation.
