Acknowledges Challenges In The Entire Aerospace Industry
Boeing has issued updated guidance directing all employees who are able to perform their work from home effectively to telecommute until further notice. Some Boeing sites were already partially or fully operating under these guidelines in accordance with local or national government mandates.
Production continues at this time, and the company has enhanced cleaning procedures in work spaces, common areas and on high-touch surfaces. It is assessing the safety of all of its sites and their alignment with local, state and national government guidance as this evolving situation is continuously monitored.
Leadership at each Boeing site is working closely with their employees to implement the guidance, and will make all decisions necessary to follow evolving government direction and to ensure the health and well-being of their teams and communities.
Overall, America’s aerospace industry – which supports over 2.5 million jobs and 17,000 suppliers – is facing an urgent challenge resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. The long term outlook for the industry is still strong, but until global passenger traffic resumes to normal levels, Boeing says it is taking steps to manage the pressure on its business. They are working to leverage all our resources to sustain its operations. Meanwhile, ready short term access to public and private liquidity will be one of the most important ways for airlines, airports, suppliers and manufacturers to bridge to recovery, and Boeing appreciates how the Administration and Congress are engaging with all elements of the aviation industry during this difficult time.
