Yet another valuable airport is being threatened
by those who do not understand the immense value aviation plays in
this nation. This time, it's a wonderful little airport in Southern
California, specifically Oceanside, CA.
We received the following missive courtesy one of ANN's favorite
News-Spies and are sharing it, in its entirety, with you to respond
as you see appropriate. Please note that if this potential closing
does not directly affect you, that it is STILL advisable to show
what support you can... because the next airport threatened may be
yours, and you'll need all the help you can get...
Dear Fellow Pilots:
The City of Oceanside has scheduled a Workshop to
determine the future of the Oceanside Airport on Wednesday,
February 19th. The time of the meeting has not been
determined yet. I will inform you when I know. It will
be during the day.
I am asking all area pilots to attend this meeting. I
cannot emphasize enough the importance of this meeting. The
Council will either vote to CLOSE THE AIRPORT or vote to develop
it. We cannot tolerate AIRPORT CLOSURE.
The Oceanside Airport Association Board of Directors has
done everything possible to garner support for the Oceanside
Airport.
If the Oceanside Airport is important to you, or
if you would like to help prevent another airport closure, a few
minutes of your time to email can make a difference. Here is what I
need from you today:
- If you live in Southern California, please make a
commitment to attend the workshop on February 19th. If not, please
CALL, FAX, and/or E-mail the Oceanside Mayor and City Council
asking them to Implement the 1997 Airport Master Plan
Immediately.
- You can E-mail the council members simultaneously at
council@ci.Oceanside.ca.us
.
Fellow pilots... this is the fork in the road.
The future of the Oceanside Airport depends on what we
pilots do in the next two weeks.
The future of the Oceanside Airport depends on all of
us.
Alan Cruise, President
Oceanside Airport Association
MEMBERS OF THE OCEANSIDE CITY COUNCIL
