Also Assists Border Patrol in Apprehension of 33
A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the McAllen Air and Marine Branch of Air and Marine Operations rescued a non citizen migrant, who was found to be unresponsive while the crew was working with USBP agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol station in tracking a large group in the vast ranch lands of Brooks County, Texas.
A McAllen Air Branch based UH-60 crew received of a report of a group of over 33 migrants in the ranch lands near Falfurrias, Texas. While USBP agents on the ground were apprehending the subjects, they informed the UH-60 crew that they had encountered a female that was unresponsive.
The crew elected to land and deploy an Air and Marine Operations Paramedic to assess and treat the woman. He informed the crew that she would need evacuation to the Falfurrias checkpoint to be transported by EMS. She was loaded aboard the UH-60 and transported to awaiting ground transportation at the checkpoint.
AMO’s UH-60s, classified as medium lift, fly with a minimum crew of three (pilot, copilot, and crew member), and are large, powerful helicopters that can carry all the equipment and personnel necessary for law enforcement operations without sacrificing range and speed. In addition, they are capable of handling the all weather hazardous environments AMO may experience.
The UH-60 is used to conduct search and rescue operations over land because of its spacious interior, which allows aircrew to assess and stabilize injured persons. The UH-60 is also used to provide support for special operations and air mobility such as personnel and equipment transport.
