Continental Flight Diverted To Dulles Outside DC

737 Reportedly Ingested A Bird Into An Engine

A Continental flight that was scheduled to fly from Washington's Reagan National Airport (DCA) to Houston didn't quite make it that far. The airplane was diverted to nearby Dulles Airport (IAD) in Northern VA Monday morning after apparently ingesting a bird into one of its engines.

The B737 landed safely at Dulles. There were 44 passengers on board flight 1559, according to an AP report in USA Today.

The DC fire department reports that it got several calls about an airplane which seemed to be having engine problems flying outside the normal flight corridors around Regan National airport.
