Was In On A Prank Recorded For An Egyptian TV Show, But Is Considering Suing Because 'It Went Too Far'
It looked like D-list celebrity Paris Hilton was genuinely afraid for her life when the it appeared the sightseeing plane she was aboard was going to crash. But it turns out she was in on the plot all along, her terror was faked, and she got paid a million dollars for her performance.
The stunt was for a show on Egyptian TV called "Ramez in Charge". For the show, host Ramez Galal invited Hilton on a plane ride, and then appeared to make the hotel heiress believe the plane was going down. She gave a very convincing performance, making people who watched the video, believe she was genuinely terrified.
But the online site roadwarriorvoices.com reports that, according to TMZ, Hilton was in on the prank from the start, and was well paid for her antics. The show, which has the backing of officials in Dubai, had approached several better-known celebrities to participate. A document from the producers obtained by TMZ reads "We will act as if something is going wrong and ask all passengers to jump off the plane!!! Of course everyone will panic, we’ll be having skydivers in disguise with us on board […] We will monitor the funny reactions from our celebrity guest when they fear jumping off the plane."
It is not clear from the video if everyone else on the plane is in on the plot as well. There appears to be a camera plane that shows the sightseeing aircraft doing steep turns and dives, and two or three people do jump out of the back of the plane. At the end of the video, Hilton tells Ramez that dying in a plane crash has been her "biggest fear" her whole life.
While Hilton admitted her role the stunt to TMZ, and said the pilot "took it too far." The online site en.yibada.com reports that Hilton had considered suing the production company, as well as the person who was responsible for putting her on the show.
