Allows The Company To Produce And Deliver The Variant From The Eastern Plant
The FAA has added South Carolina-built 787-9 Dreamliners to the company's production certificate, PC 700. This allows Boeing to produce and deliver 787-9s from its South Carolina facility. 787-8 production was added to Boeing's PC 700 certificate in July 2012.
"Our teammates take great pride in the work that they do, and rightfully so. This is yet another significant milestone in the short history of this impressive site and a tribute to our teammates' hard work, flexibility and dedication," said Beverly Wyse, Boeing South Carolina vice president and general manager. "They continue to demonstrate that Boeing builds and delivers Dreamliners from both South Carolina and Washington State that meet the highest quality standards for our customers."
The certificate is issued once an airplane manufacturer has demonstrated to the FAA that its facilities and quality management system meet the agency's stringent safety and reliability requirements.
"This certification is further evidence that our 787 production system is robust and we're committed to meeting customer commitments with a focus on safety and quality," said Wyse.
The addition of Boeing South Carolina's 787-9 production to the Boeing production certificate follows a successful FAA Manufacturing Inspection District Office audit that validated the site's compliance with the Boeing Quality Management System.
"Teammates from across the site know that they each have a role to play in demonstrating compliance to our plans, processes and procedures," said Stewart Johnson, director of Quality for Boeing South Carolina. "Successfully completing this audit is a testament to our culture of safety and quality. I'm proud of the way our teams work together to stay focused on delivering first-time quality to our customers every day."
