Carpenter Avionics Acquires Smyrna Air Center’s Avionics Business

Companies Forge New Alliance to Better Serve Customers

Nashville, TN-based aviation services company Carpenter Avionics has acquired the avionics business unit of Smyrna Air Center, an FAA approved Maintenance and Repair Organization and one of two Fixed Based Operators located at the same airport where Carpenter is based. The companies will partner as Carpenter Avionics becomes the avionics service provider for Smyrna Air Center.

“We share a common philosophy with Smyrna Air Center of providing unsurpassed, excellent customer service,” said Mark Lee, President of Carpenter Avionics. “We’ve been modernizing an already-proven operation and expanding our Installation and Service teams to better serve our customers since we acquired Carpenter six months ago. Today’s news enhances our capacity, underscores our commitment to the Mid-South region, and strengthens what already has been a very positive working relationship with Smyrna Air Center for many years. Customers will benefit from this new level of collaboration.”

“Smyrna Air Center has always focused on ways to improve and expand its wide range of services for our customers,” said Bob Fields, CEO of Smyrna Air Center. “With the availability of Carpenter’s renowned avionics expertise, and Smyrna Air Center’s 145 Maintenance facility, with factory trained mechanics, we feel customers will benefit from the positive commitment to customer service and experience provided by two strong companies with similar visions."

Carpenter acquired all of Smyrna Air Center’s avionics-related assets in this business purchase.

Carpenter has leased space within Smyrna Air Center’s facility so Carpenter can provide services for aircraft operators from its facilities on both the east side and now west side of the airport as an added convenience to customers. The companies also will partner in other areas to better serve customers.
