Three Fatally Injured In Citation Mustang Accident

Plane Went Down In Germany Last Thursday In Poor Weather

Three people were fatally injured last Thursday when a Cessna 510 (Mustang) went down in poor weather in a remote area of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.

First responders worked through the night in an effort to reach the accident scene, according to a report from the German newspaper The Local. A police spokeswoman confirmed Friday morning that two of those on board, including the pilot of the airplane, had been from Austria. The third person was a German, according to the report.

The jet had departed from Frankfurt-Egelsbach airport en route to Friedrichshafen in southern Germany. It was on approach when it went down about 10 miles from the airport. High winds and heavy snowfall hampered the rescue efforts through the night, and authorities went so far as to suspend the operations at one point during the night due to the inclement weather.

Information provided by the Aviation Safety Network (ASN) indicates that the plane was registered to Skytaxi Lufthart.

The investigation by the Federal Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is in its very early stages. ASN indicates that it is the first Cessna 510 accident involving fatalities to be recorded.
