Airshow Performer Passed Unexpectedly At Age 57
Final details were publicized this week for a memorial service
for airshow performer Greg Poe, who on July 24 passed away suddenly
of an apparent heart attack at the age of 57.
From the Greg Poe Airshows website, "In
addition to his company, Greg Poe Airshows, Inc., Poe was the
founder and principal of the Ryan J. Poe Foundation, named for his
son who was lost to drug addiction in 2002. From that loss came
Poe’s Elevate Your Life program, through which Poe visited
and spoke to thousands of middle and high school age children with
the message of 'Aim for the Sky', encouraging them to follow their
dreams and not let the world distract them from their goals.
"Greg Poe Airshows, Inc. issued a statement that it intends to
continue operations in both the airshow arena and the Ryan J. Poe
Foundation, and will be making decisions toward achieving that goal
in the near future.
"Those wishing to make contributions to Greg’s memory can
do so by making a donation to the Ryan J. Poe Foundation, 518
Dishman Place, Caldwell, ID 83605. Tributes can also be made by
credit card via phone at (208) 455-0700."
Services will be held Wednesday, August 17 at 1900 (MDT) at The
Idaho Center, Nampa, ID. Doors will open at 1800. The service is
open to the public and a special edition of Greg's Elevate Your
Life Program is planned. A reception will follow at the Greg Poe
Aviation Hangar in Caldwell, ID for friends and family.
