Flight Training School Named In Lawsuit Following Mid-Air Collision

Pilot Of The Second Plane Also Named As A Defendant

The family of a man who was fatally injured in a mid-air collision near Calabasas, CA earlier this year has filed lawsuits against American Flyers flight school and one of its instructors.

The instructor, Peter Nagy, was conducting a lesson with a student when the plane they were flying collided with one flown by Christopher Wade, 63. Wade and a passenger, Cheryl Joline Strawn, 69, were fatally injured in the accident. Both aircraft involved were Cessna 172s.

The Malibu Patch relates a story from City News Service that the aircraft flown by Nagy landed on a nearby golf course. The aircraft with Wade and Strawn aboard wend down in Malibu Creek State Park.

The plaintiffs in the suit are Marta Wade, the widow of the pilot, and the couple's children. They are seeking unspecified damages in Los Angeles Superior Court for wrongful death in the accident.
