But... Will This Mean Real Change For The 'Troubled'
Company?
Cirrus Aircraft has confirmed persistent rumors of the imminent
departure of CEO Brent Wouters after 2 and a half years of tough
times and some questionable decision-making. Cirrus Co-Founder Dale
Klapmeier has been named Chief Executive Officer. Brent Wouters,
previously President and Chief Executive Officer, is
reportedly "no longer with the company."
Klapmeier is quoted as stating, "At Cirrus, we are passionate
about airplanes and flying, and I am passionate about this company.
Along with our new owners, our commitment is stronger than ever to
the same goals and ideals that we had when we started the company
more than 25 years ago. And that goal is to make the dream of
flight a reality for more people, both in the U.S. and around the
world. Today we are at the beginning of the next chapter of the
reinvention of personal transportation."
Klapmeier takes over after two and a half tumultuous years in
which the economy tanked and the fortunes of the company soured...
In that time, the company was implicated in a number of bad
business practices, created some bad blood between itself and a
number of its key suppliers, acted out in an aggressive manner
towards its critics -- especially after being caught in a number of
falsehoods and factual conflicts, came under federal investigation,
and was ultimately sold to a Chinese government entity after
vociferous denials in the months leading up to the sale. ANN will
have more info to impart as details are developed...
