Raburn Speaks To ANN About What Went Wrong At Eclipse Aviation

Aero-News Featured Aero-Casts For Tuesday 03.03.09

Eclipse Aviation founder and former CEO Vern Raburn has broken the long silence which followed his expulsion from the company last July, on the opening day of AirVenture 2008.

In an exclusive interview with ANN Editor-in-Chief Jim Campbell, Raburn gives his take on what the future may hold for Eclipse, with the looming sale of key assets on the courthouse steps. Somewhat surprisingly, Raburn believes the future of the company he founded may actually be a brighter one now, than it was a few months ago when the company entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Raburn also goes after the vendors he says were key to Eclipse's final downfall.. including one he says used "extortion" tactics to win a major cash payment from the company. He also gives his thoughts on the lawmaker who led a Congressional investigation last year on the certification of the Eclipse 500... who Raburn calls a "toady to the unions."

And, Raburn also weighs in on what role he might play in a future iteration of Eclipse Aviation. This is a four-part interview, but ANN will make all parts available from Tuesday through Friday.

This feature is in addition to our daily news briefing -- available in either a quick "Touch And Go" format, or an expanded Aero-Briefing -- where you'll hear these stories:

Southwest Airlines settles up with the FAA...

AIG may get government help in selling off ILFC...

And Vern Raburn breaks a long silence
